Job description
As a Developer Experience Engineer, your mission is to significantly improve the productivity and quality of our Development and QA teams by elevating their day-to-day experience (tooling, standards, workflows) and accelerating the pragmatic adoption of AI across engineering.
You will act as a force multiplier: reducing friction, simplifying complexity, and enabling teams to focus on what truly matters — building reliable, mission-critical cybersecurity software.
This is a high-impact, cross-functional role at the intersection of engineering excellence, developer experience, automation, and applied AI.
Responsibilities
Developer Experience & Tooling
Identify and eliminate daily friction points across the development lifecycle (environment setup, CI, testing, local development, code reviews, documentation, etc.).
Design, build, and improve internal tools, templates, and conventions that streamline workflows.
Simplify and standardize engineering practices (scaffolding, quality gates, happy paths, automation).
Improve onboarding processes, documentation quality, and feedback loops.
Support the QA team in strengthening tooling and test integration within development workflows.
Ensure CI pipelines (Dev & QA side) are reliable, understandable, maintainable, and well-documented.
AI Adoption for Dev & QA
Develop and maintain internal AI assets: guidelines, prompt libraries, templates, and playbooks.
Integrate AI pragmatically into existing workflows (IDE, pull requests, CI, QA processes) with a clear focus on value creation.
Define guardrails and best practices around AI usage (security, confidentiality, governance).
Lead AI adoption initiatives: workshops, knowledge-sharing sessions, feedback collection.
Collaborate closely with the Security team to assess and mitigate AI-related risks.
Ensure AI adoption delivers measurable gains in time savings, quality improvement, testing efficiency, and documentation.
Success Metrics (6–12 Months)
Engineering teams spend significantly less time on repetitive and configuration-heavy tasks.
Standards and best practices are adopted naturally — without adding unnecessary complexity.
CI processes for Dev & QA are robust, transparent, and easy to maintain.
AI is regularly and effectively used, delivering concrete improvements in productivity and quality.
Developer experience improves without increasing ecosystem complexity.
Requirements
10+ years of experience in software development.
Strong understanding of Large Language Models (LLMs): prompting techniques, practical use cases, limitations, and quality considerations.
Proven ability to integrate AI into Dev & QA workflows in a pragmatic and value-driven way.
Experience building internal developer tools (scripts, CLI tools, lightweight services).
Hands-on experience with CI/CD pipelines (GitHub Actions or equivalent) from a user perspective.
Solid experience with Docker and Docker Compose.
Strong systems thinking mindset; you optimize workflows, not just code.
Bonus
Awareness of AI-related security and governance challenges.
Interest in cybersecurity.
Experience driving internal AI adoption within engineering teams.
You might feel hesitant to apply if you don’t match 100% of the requirements. This list is a guide, we encourage you to apply even if you are a partial match. We are building teams that innovate, not teams that simply tick every box.
Why join us
At StrangeBee, you won’t just join a company — you’ll help shape a growing European cybersecurity leader.
What makes us different is not only what we build, but how we build it.
Customer Centric
Everything we do starts with impact. We build for real security teams facing real threats. We listen carefully, challenge assumptions, and aim to deeply understand the “why” behind every need. If you care about delivering meaningful value — not just shipping features — you’ll feel at home here.
Quest for Excellence
“Good enough” is not our standard. We continuously question how we work, how we collaborate, and how we improve our product. Excellence for us means rigor, accountability, and pride in craftsmanship — whether in code, sales conversations, customer support, or internal processes.
Embrace Change
Cybersecurity evolves constantly — so do we. We encourage initiative, ideas, and constructive challenge. If you see something that could be better, you’re expected to speak up and help drive improvement. Change is not something we endure; it’s something we actively shape.
One Team
We believe performance comes from trust. We foster open communication, mutual respect, and psychological safety. Everyone’s voice matters, and collaboration goes beyond titles or departments. We succeed together.
Joining StrangeBee means working in an environment where ownership is real, standards are high, and impact is visible — while being part of a team that genuinely supports each other.
